Easy Makki di roti Recipe

Ingredients for Makki di roti
  • Cornmeal (makai ka atta) 1 ½ cups
  • Whole-wheat flour (atta)(optional) ¼ cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil as required
  • Butter 6 tbsps

Method to prepare Makki di roti

Mix cornmeal, whole-heat flour and salt. Add sufficient lukewarm water, a little at a time, to make a medium soft dough.
Divide prepared dough into eight to ten equal portions. Moisten your palm with a little water and flatten each portion of the dough on a wet polythene sheet into discs of four to five inches in diameter.
Heat a tawa, apply a little oil and transfer makki roti carefully onto the tawa. Spoon a little oil on the sides of makki roti an cook on low heat for one minute.
Turn the makki roti and cook the other side for one minute or till crisp and light golden brown.
Brush cooked rotis with butter and serve hot with sarson da saag.
