Toffee apple Recipe

Easy Toffee apple Recipe

Ingredients for Toffee apple
  • Apples 4 medium sized
  • Sugar 1 cup
  • Sesame seeds 1 tbsp
  • Oil to deep fry

For the batter

  • Refined flour (maida) ½ cup
  • Cornstarch 2 tbsps
  • Baking powder ½ tsp

Method to prepare Toffee apple
To prepare the batter, sift refined flour and cornstarch with baking powder. Slowly stir in one and a quarter cups of water to make a smooth batter. Set it aside for half an hour. Toast sesame seeds lightly and keep aside.
Wash, peel, core and cut apples into wedges and dust with flour.
Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Dip apple wedges into the batter and deep fry until golden brown. Drain onto an absorbent paper and keep warm.
Heat sugar with four tablespoons of water in a thick-bottomed pan, stirring continuously till sugar dissolves.
Continue cooking till it starts caramelizing and becomes pale golden. Remove form heat.
Dip apple fritters into hot caramel and then dip immediately in iced water to harden to caramel. (The diners can do this process on the dining table.)
Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds on the toffee apple and serve immediately.
