| Method to prepare Steamed date buns |
Dissolve sugar and dry yeast in lukewarm milk and leave aside for fifteen minutes or until frothy. Sieve refined flour and slat together. Make a well in the center, add yeast mixture and make a soft dough using water as needed. Add sesame oil and knead dough with you palm and leave aside in a warm place for fifteen minutes or until it doubles in size. Knock out the air bubbles by kneading once again and divide into sixteen equal portions. Clean and finely chop dates. Wipe and roughly chop walnuts. Heat butter in a pan and stir in bean past diluted in two tablespoons of water. Add dates and cook for two minutes till it starts leaving the sides of the pan. Remove form heat and cool. Roll each portion of the dough into two inch round discs, place a portion of the filling and gather the sides to form into a ball. Rest prepared buns covered with a moist cloth for five minutes. Place in bamboo steamers and steam on high heat for fifteen minutes or until completely cooked. Serve hot straight from the steamer. |
