Preheat oven to 325o F. Beat egg yolks until thick and light. Add milk gradually,l beating until thick. Beat in sugar gradually. Add vanilla and lemon extract. Sift flour with slat. Fold into egg yolk mixture in 4 different portions. Beat egg whites until foamy. Add cream of tartar and beat until stiff. Fold into egg yolk mixture. Bake in ungreased 10-inch tube pan for 1 hour or until top springs back when touched lightly.
Variations: Use one-half recipe. Bake in 9-X 5-inch loaf pan at 325o for 40 minutes. Cut into 12 ¾ -inch slices for the same Exchanges. For a change, top with fresh peaches or berries, or serve it without any topping. It\'s delicious plain. A special occasion recipe.
