Easy Namakpara Recipe

Ingredients for Namakpara
  • Whole wheat flour (atta) ½ cup
  • Refined flour (maida) ½ cup
  • Baking powder ½ tsp
  • Ghee ½ cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Carom seeds (ajwain) ½ tsp

Method to prepare Namakpara

Mix the two flours and baking powder. Add ghee and rub in with fingertips to get a consistency of breadcrumbs.
Add salt and crushed carom seeds. Add sufficient cold water to make stiff dough. Cover dough with a muslin cloth and let it rest for some time.
Sprinkle some refined flour on a flat surface and roll out dough into a half-centimeter thick diskette (chapati).
Preheat the oven to 200o C. Grease a baking tray with a little oil and sprinkle refined flour on it.
Cut rolled out dough into diamond shaped pieces. Place them on the baking tray and bake in the preheated oven at 200o C for fifteen to twenty minutes.
Serve hot or store them in an airtight container when cool.
